Welcome! We’re delighted that you’ve joined us this evening as we celebrate Summer Stages Dance twelfth year of moving the art of dance forward! That’s been our goal and tonight thank you for your support in making this possible.
We began as a group of sixteen dancers and choreographers working in a collaborative environment to explore the traditions and innovative possibilities of contemporary dance. Today, after more than a decade of growth, and thanks to your support, we are a prestigious summer workshop and performance series that has earned a distinctive reputation for its emphasis on mentorship and the creation of new work. More recently we have initiated partnerships with the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, Boston Ballet, and the Baryshnikov Arts Center, reflecting our commitment to vitalizing the arts community by developing unique programming with other dynamic institutions.
Summer Stages Dance provides a rare opportunity for aspiring, emerging, and veteran dancers and choreographers to explore their art in a rich and focused environment. Please know that we need your support to continue this work! The proceeds from tonight’s gala will help us secure Summer Stages’ future by providing much-needed scholarship money so that we can invite the most talented, motivated young people regardless of their financial means to join our artistic community.
