Robin Young, Here & Now, WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station
“Explosive moves to driving beats
at Summer Stages… Singular
talents seemed to shoot like sparks out
of the 20-member llstyle & Peace
Productions troupe… The killer finale, “KINGZ,’’ …an
exploration of power wrought from spirit. …it alone was worth
the price of admission.…You leave hearing not so much the beat
in your ears as the one in your heart.”

“[Illstyle & Peace] displayed some of the most dazzling
breaking techniques I’ve ever seen, while Mr. Albright’s
choreography possessed a sly humor
and an adept sense of spatial composition. Watching these dancers
was like watching the greatest ballet virtuosos, each fighting gravity
and the appearance of effort, and demanding and getting the impossible
from the human body. They were fabulous.”
— Roslyn
Sulcas, The New York Times, May 30, 2010
Named one of the top 10 dance performances of 2010 by the New
York Times.
On Thursday July 28, friends and supporters of Summer Stages Dance
were dazzled by a show the Times calls a "hip hop revue
with killer dancing.” The “killer” performance and
a post performance gathering launched
Summer Stages 15th anniversary and generated
support for Summer Stages’ commitment
to diversity and scholarship.
Summer Stages regularly seeks, attracts and hires
a roster of faculty and performing artists
that is broadly diverse, and our objective now is focused on identifying
and enrolling a student population that mirrors the diversity of the
adult community. Summer Stages tuition assistance program has played
a vital role in attracting the broad diversity of talent, background
and experience that is critical to the effectiveness of the workshop
model.
