Welcome to Summer Stages Dance 2008, a season that promises to be a particularly exciting and inspiring one!  New to Summer Stages are the extraordinary Eiko & Koma and Bessie Award winning, former Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company member, Germaul Yusef Barnes. We’re delighted to welcome back the incomparable Dan Wagoner who will for the first time be creating new work for Summer Stages’ dancers.  Add to this the presence of the legendary Sara Rudner, the inimitable David Parker & The Bang Group, the brilliant Tere O’Connor with his vibrant company and the great classic modernist Teri Weksler—and we think you’ll agree that our 2008 Workshop and Performance Series is one not to be missed!  In addition: work with Nell Breyer of the MIT Center of Advanced Visual Studies on dance and new media, and understand why we are thrilled this year to have such an extraordinary range of artists in residence at Summer Stages.

When we launched Summer Stages twelve years ago, our purpose was to provide an opportunity for a select group of committed dancers and choreographers to explore the art of dance in an intimate and intensive workshop setting. We accept only advanced level dancers and the most promising emerging choreographers into the program, and ensure that every student participates in the creation of new work.

We are proud to be considered one of the leading dance programs in the country. Our goal is to advance America’s rich modern dance tradition by nurturing new works and the artists, dancers and choreographers who create them. We accomplish this by offering training and performance that represents the highest standards of tradition and innovation in contemporary dance. This summer come join us at Summer Stages Dance and be inspired!

Sincerely,
